Single Review: Jackson Satora - “Tame Your Love”

The amount of talent that exists in the R&B music space never ceases to amaze me. One of those new talents is Jackson Satora, from San Diego. Jackson is doing all the right things and proves this with his new single, Tame Your Love. This record sounds like it could be cut by any number of major male artists out right now.

Right from the beginning, it is hard to tell where we are going with this record. A gentle guitar leads the way, sitting right in the middle of an atmospheric vibe adorned with bells and whirls that enhance the mood. Mid-first verse we get a taste of the attention to detail that Jackson put into this record by way of the stacked vocals. The layers keep going as we build up to that pre-hook and continue into the hook. Here we get the full affect. The background vocals and ad-libs marry one another, culminating at the hook into one big crescendo.

It is here that it becomes hard to dismiss a feeling that Jackson may have gotten overly ambitious. There is a lot happening in the pre-hook. There are moments where the background vocals almost mimic the instrumental. Then when we get into the hook, the synths overpower what are some sweet lyrics and somewhat drown them out.

Tame Your Love is technically impressive and has some tender lyrics. Everyone says they want love music to come back, well here we are. Jackson is off to a strong start with this one, albeit with a few areas of improvement to consider. They always say, less is more. Simplification is not always a bad thing and Jackson seems willing to improve his craft. Follow him at @jacksonsatora for more.
