3 Song Feature: Randy White, LJ Henry, and Cameron Boyes

What I love the most about "Means Nothing" is how nonchalant Randy is about just letting his feelings and thoughts flow. His vocal delivery conveys his sincerity and authenticity, leaving no space for anything to be forced. Randy's singing is soulful and controlled, being sure to connect the emotion behind the songs message.

Lyrically, Randy is looking for answers. In his attempts to understand his significant other, we get some insane honesty and vulnerability in these lyrics that document just how down bad he is. Randy revels in both the pain and lingering adoration that he still has for his former lover. It would be interesting to learn the inspiration from this song and if he ever received the information he was searching for.

I have come to appreciate the raw honesty in songs like "Means Nothing" lately. Life continues to spin so fast around all of us, there is no time to waste. While some clever metaphor and alliteration is nice, I think standing bold in your lived experiences and having the courage to share them with listeners is what it’s all about. I know that when you listen to "Means Nothing", you are going to hear that and more. The record can be found on his new EP, "Lost In Meaning", which is a solid project that you do not want to miss. Enjoy!

Unsuspecting smooth killer LJ Henry hooked these RNB Nerd ears instantly with his latest record, “Catching Feelings”

A straight to the point 2:14 release, LJ kept it strictly business with no room for filler. The dreamy production is the perfect canvas for LJ to set the stage for what’s on his mind. LJ’s tone doesn’t deviate much throughout the record but trust that I’m catching those ad libs and background vocals! For me, R&B has the most tender and emotive ad libs amongst the music genres. And you can fight me on that! But LJ captured the sentiment nicely with his voice and attention to detail.

Lyrically, I’m glad he led with the chorus and the more sentimental lyrics. The chorus encapsulates the sincere realization that damn, he just might be developing a deep emotional connection to someone. At least that’s what I hear, you tell me what you think. If someone told you that they needed you to “pull up more” and that you were on their mind all night, tell me that wouldn’t make you feel a way? Moving onto the second verse, LJ pushes the envelope a bit more by expressing the sexiness his leading lady embodies. Not to mention all the situations that he wants to get into, I’ll let you listen for yourself to catch his colorful lyricism! I think lyrically, as I stated earlier, this is LJ’s way of sharing how this situation makes him feel and I don’t think there’s ever a wrong or right way to do that as an artist.

I was very impressed with this record, NGL! I think the vibe is perfect for drives, late night rendezvous, or if you just want to let someone know that they’re special AF and that you got the perfect song for them to hear. If any of this interests you, please check out LJ Henry here and be sure to press play a milli on “Catching Feelings”.

Not really knowing what to expect on "YLENOL", which clocks in at just 1:39, the vibe certainly delivers what it needs to.

I love when something blows me away unexpectedly. The music is straightforward, a continuous hum that lets Cameron's produced and processed vocals convey the feeling that makes this song so special, IMO. Not sure if the duration on the record is strategic since it does seem to be making moves in the TikTok world.

It is bit hard to hear the lyrics in parts, but what is loud and clear are the melodies and attention to detail. I am such a sucker for ad-libs and "YELNOL" is full of them. I am not sure if Cameron is a self-proclaimed R&B artist, but the references and the TASTE is certainly there. What we hear is something that would fit right into the current R&B landscape on any number of big major acts and because of that, I am instantly a fan.

It makes me want to go back in time and be as cool as this guy at his age. Keep going Cameron! What a pleasure it was to review this record. You can find Cameron Boyes on Spotify and on Instagram by clicking the links. Cheers!
